MATC to Graduate Nearly 1,400 Students at May 17 Spring Commencement

Milwaukee Area Technical College will graduate nearly 1,400 students at its Spring Commencement at 6 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the UWM-Panther Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave. Students will graduate from associate degree, technical diploma, apprentice and adult high school programs. Retired businessman and MATC alumnus Joe Delgadillo will present the keynote address and receive MATC’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Delgadillo served as president and CEO of Wausau Financial Systems, a payments software and services company. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of Metavante, a technology-solutions company headquartered in Milwaukee. He attended MATC from 1971-1973, taking liberal arts and sciences courses in preparation for transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Chicago.

Dr. Vicki J. Martin, MATC president, will officially confer the degrees; and David 
Dull, chairperson of the MATC District Board, will address the assembly. Other MATC board members expected to attend are Erica Case, Mark Foley, Ashanti Hamilton, Lisa Olson and Mary Scheibel.

Cassidy Rodencal, who will graduate with an associate degree in culinary arts, will present the student speech. She also will receive the Outstanding Associate Degree Graduate Award. Maya Kuntz, who will receive a cosmetology diploma, will receive the Outstanding Technical Diploma Graduate Award. Manuela A. Wells will receive the Outstanding Adult High School Graduate Award.
