MATC Hosted Boy Scout Merit Badge Clinic at Downtown Milwaukee Campus Nov. 12

Nov. 12, 2016

Boy Scouts from throughout southeastern Wisconsin participated in the first day long “MATC Learn It & Earn It” event to earn merit badges at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus Nov. 12.

In partnership with the Three Harbors Council, MATC held courses in a wide variety of fields, many of which aligned with MATC academic programs. Boy Scouts 12 and older were able to earn one badge during the day. Courses were taught by MATC instructors and Boy Scout merit badge counselors. The $8 per scout fee included a lunch and participant patch.

The event coincided with MATC’s Open House. Boy Scouts participated in an Open House scavenger hunt. Parents were invited to attend any of the merit badge classes and MATC’s Open House.

The goal was for each scout to choose one badge and focus on learning about the subject. Badges were offered in Game Design, Animation, Crime Prevention, Automotive Maintenance, Truck Transportation, Programming, Theatre, Photography, Law, Entrepreneurship, Medicine, Cooking, Geology, American Business, Welding, Music, Digital Technologies, Soil and Water Conservation, Digital Marketing, Bugling and Dentistry.
