'Heavy Metal Tour' Held to Promote Careers in Manufacturing at MATC's Oak Creek Campus
Approximately 170 students from Cudahy, Oak Creek, South Milwaukee and Tenor High Schools toured classrooms and labs in ECAM, met MATC faculty, talked with manufacturers and experienced working with computer numerical control manufacturing equipment. They also toured several companies as part of the experience. Students learned about the growing number of high-tech career options in the manufacturing sector and training opportunities for those jobs. Among the participating companies were Allis-Roller, LLC; Iverson & Company; Krones, Inc.; Nucor Cold Finish; Poblocki Sign Company; PPG Industries; and Super Steel, LLC.
ECAM is a $9 million, 34,000-square-foot facility which is home to many educational and training opportunities. Opened in late 2007, ECAM hosts learning laboratories in advanced manufacturing, manufacturing welding, advanced software, energy solutions, HVAC digital controls and HVAC computers.
