MATC Men's Basketball Team Finishes 8th at NJCAA Division III National Tournament
The MATC Stormers - 2012 NJCAA Division III Region IV Champions
MATC's men's basketball team registered an eighth-place finish at the NJCAA Division III national tournament, held March 15-17 in Loch Sheldrake, N.Y.
The Stormers dropped an 88-81 decision to Roxbury Community College of Roxbury Crossing, Mass., in their third and final game March 17. MATC lost 81-76 to the Central Lakes College Raiders (Brainerd, Minn.) in the second round on March 16. The MATC Stormers lost 100-86 to the Cedar Valley Lake College Suns (Lancaster, Texas), the eventual national runner-up in first-round action.

The MATC Stormers won the 2012 NJCAA Divison III Region IV championship in early March. Coached by Randy Casey, this is the first time in MATC history that the Stormers have advanced to the national tournament.
The Stormers won three nailbiters en route to the regional championship, including an 87-85 win over Joliet Junior College in the title game March 4 in Madison, Wis. The win avenged a 74-61 loss to the Wolves on Feb. 18.
Casey's squad opened regional tournament action with an 84-80 win over Harper College at home on Feb. 29. The Stormers then topped the College of DuPage 79-75 in semifinal action in Madison on March 3.
Rishaad Alexander was named the tournament MVP and Tevin Rumley earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Casey was named Region IV Coach of the Year.
MATC took a 22-11 record to the tournament. The Stormers are guaranteed a top-eight national finish. All tournament games can be seen at http://www.ihigh.com/njcaatv/
