MATC Receives Donation from Districts Mutual Insurance

MILWAUKEE (Oct. 26, 2012) - Districts Mutual Insurance (DMI), a Municipal Mutual insurance company serving the 16 Technical College Districts of Wisconsin, made a donation of $16,000 to those Districts at its October quarterly meeting. Each District was presented a check for its foundation in the amount of $1,000; designated as an unrestricted funds donation.

According to Steven Stoeger-Moore, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of DMI, “This donation serves as a tangible benefit of being a Member of DMI – a company whose primary focus is on the needs of its members. Not only has DMI collectively saved its members over $10 million since inception (via recent actuarial study), it has always fostered and facilitated an environment of cooperation and collaboration among the colleges, this donation clearly illustrates how well that philosophy is serving our members.”

DMI was formed in 2004 through a collaboration that moved the colleges from merely “buying” an insurance policy to forming their own insurance company. DMI members participate in an integrated approach to risk management which includes: insurance coverage, loss control, claims management, campus security, and environmental health and safety. DMI offers coverages via five policies issued contemplate the unique risk profile of technical education and protect the $3.1 billion in property and contents, 82,365 student FTE, 11,028 staff FTE, $712 million in payroll, and 750 vehicles of the Wisconsin Technical College Districts.

James Blumreich, DMI Board President and CFO of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, asks, “What other company with which you do business tries to reduce the amount you pay to them? A singular focus on its members is one of the perspectives that makes DMI so unique, a real standout in the insurance world. As we celebrate the start of our ninth year of serving the Wisconsin Technical Colleges, I am happy to report that this unique company is alive and well.”
