OAK CREEK (May 25, 2012) – Milwaukee Area Technical College's Diesel and Powertrain Servicing technical diploma program has been certified by the National Automotive Technician Educational Foundation (NATEF).
Certification includes an extensive self-evaluation that is followed by an on-site evaluation. The process focuses on national standards that have been identified by representatives of the automotive industry.
"This certification is well deserved and will be a great benefit to our students," said Dr. Vicki J. Martin, MATC Executive Vice President and Provost. Studies have shown that accreditation results in a significant, positive effect on the learning that takes place in programs like our diesel and powertrain servicing program.
MATC's one-year program trains students how to service equipment powered by gas or diesel engines, with an emphasis on the repair of heavy trucks. The program is offered at MATC's Oak Creek campus.
Two other programs are NATEF-certified - automotive technology associate degree and automotive maintenance technical diploma.
