MATC Students Featured at RDI Stages Grand Opening

Milwaukee Area Technical College students and faculty participated in the grand opening of RDI Stages Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009. RDI Stages, located on the south side of Milwaukee, is the first sound stage and movie production facility in Wisconsin. It is expected to bring more movie-making business to the state.

Event organizers invited MATC to be a part of the event to showcase students and their work, including the VICON motion capture system, which MATC purchased last summer. MATC is the only Midwestern college that owns the equipment and software that is widely used to create character animation.

"Our presence at the RDI Stages event provided the opportunity to network with arts and entertainment industry leaders from throughout the state, region, and nation," said James MacDonald, associate dean of MATC's Business and Information Technology Division. "MATC has been recognized as an important element in attracting business to the region and supplying employees to these industries whose presence in Wisconsin continues to grow."
