Students from MATC's arboriculture programs turned in outstanding performances at the Tree Care Industry (TCI) EXPO held in Milwaukee in November 2008. Ten MATC students participated in the Career Days skills and knowledge competitions, which drew 98 entrants.
Keith Maltby of Hartland, recorded a third-place overall finish. He captured first place in four competitions, including work climb, throwline, safety inspection and speed scramble. Mark Brothen, a West Bend resident, registered a perfect score in the TCI CSI Tree Diagnostic event and took home first-place honors.
Dan McCoy of Sheboygan Falls and Fred Kluhsman of New Berlin tied for third place in the arboricultural knowledge contest.
"Our students continued MATC's success in the Career Days competitions," said Mike Wendt, arboriculture and horticulture instructor. "The EXPO is a great learning experience for them and also provides a chance for them to display the knowledge and skills that they have learned at MATC." |
