Optician - Vision Care

TECHNICAL DIPLOMA

Downtown Milwaukee Campus 

 

Learn how to construct eyewear, fit and adjust glasses, and assist patients in the selection of frames and lens materials. In addition, the program prepares you to perform preliminary eye examinations and educate patients about contact lens selection, use and care. In the second semester, students put their skills into practice working in the on-campus optical dispensary. 

Career Outlook: Employment opportunities are expected to increase due to growth in public awareness of the importance of good eyesight, the availability of vision screening programs, and the aging population.

This program does not have a waitlist. Students are admitted through a petition process. Please read all information through the links on the left. 

A criterion considered in the petition process is verification of student residency. Students selected via the petition process are chosen based on MATC district residency, then Wisconsin nondistrict residency, followed by nonresidents, unless otherwise stated.
