Dermond Gift Fosters Diversity in Aviation Programs
Max Dermond, president of Derco Aerospace, and MATC Foundation Board member, provided a gift of $10,000 to permanently endow a scholarship for women and minority students entering the college?s aviation programs. The Dermond Aviation Scholarship is the second endowed scholarship he has established. In 1998, Dermond established the Brian Schmelzer/Derco Aviation Scholarship in honor of an employee who died in a car accident.

Miller Brewing Company Receives Partners in Excellence Award
Milwaukee-based Miller Brewing Company is the winner of the 2005 Partners in Excellence Award from the Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation, in recognition of its contribution to the college and the community.

Beginning in 1993, Miller?s TOOLS for Success? program outfitted nearly 250 graduating students with the tools necessary to succeed in their chosen professions. Miller also has provided WIN (Workforce Investment Now) scholarships to support working students. Most recently, the company gave $20,000 to support scholarships for students in the Cooperative Urban Teacher Education Program.

The MATC Foundation warmly welcomed Miller Brewing into the Partners in Excellence family. They have earned a place in it through their sustained commitment to charitable giving and to workforce development. Since 1994, Partners in Excellence has been recognizing outstanding support for student scholarships and college activities. Miller Brewing Company is the oldest major brewer in America, celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2005.

MATC Employees Provide Record Support
Through the annual MATC Giving Campaign, hundreds of employees have generously contributed thousands of dollars to the foundation. The 2003-2004 campaign raised a record amount of $42,000 to support more than 45 different MATC Foundation funds. This commitment from inside the college has been a catalyst for the foundation?s growing external support and partnerships with business and industry.
