Accessing
Library Materials from Home
Access to
electronic resources at MATC is an important issue that all faculty and
students need to understand, and particularly distance learning students. MATC subscribes to access for nearly 60 distinct
databases which provide current, accurate and reliable information for research
purposes. Nearly all of these databases
require us to limit our access to on-campus users. Distance learners need to use different
methods in order to gain access to these resources.
STEP 1. ACCESSING THE LIBRARY PAGE
Start by
typing in the library home page URL in your browser’s address area: http://library.matc.edu/ and hit
the ENTER key on your keyboard.

The library
home page will appear on your screen. To
use any of the databases like InfoTrac, simply use the page as you would
normally to access these resources (See “How to Find an Article” handout for
more information).
When you
click on a restricted resource, you’ll see the following screen:

STEP 2. Entering Your MATC ID Number.
If the
computer recognizes that you are coming in from off-campus, it will ask you for
your MATC ID Number. Enter all seven digits of your ID Number to
gain access to the databases. Click
the Login button.
If
successful, you will be forwarded immediately to the database you chose from
the Library page.
If you have any problems, you can call Steve Heser at (414)
297-8497 or email at hesers@matc.edu. Include your full name and ID number, so that
we may run tests to solve the problem.
