CNC Turning Programming Certificate Starting January 2008
One-semester, 12-credit sequence teaches you to program CNC turning centers. This curriculum is designed for those who already have basic operating skills. All programs that you write will be proved out on a full-sized, industrial turning center, with emphasis on tooling, speeds and feeds for metal cutting.
Courses taught at ECAM:
CNC-332, CNC Turning Programming/Prove Out 1 (3 credits) - Covers the basics of manual CNC programming for a turning center. Prerequisite: MACHTL-319 or MACHTL-380 or industrial experience.
CNC-333, CNC Turning Programming/Prove Out 2 (3 credits) - Builds on the concepts learned in Programming/Prove Out 1, covering additional operational procedures. Also: programming techniques such as threading, TNR compensation and metric programming. Prerequisite: CNC-332.
CNC-334, Turning Center CAD/CAM Programming 1 (3 credits) - Builds on the concepts learned in Programming/Prove Out 2, covering additional procedures for CNC turning. Also: programming techniques such as internal boring, internal threading and canned cycles. Includes introduction to CAD/CAM programming. Prerequisite: CNC-333.
CNC-335, Turning Center CAD/CAM Programming 2 (3 credits) - Covers CAD/CAM programming for CNC turning centers using PC-based MasterCAM software. Prerequisite: CNC-334.
