IT Information Systems Security Specialist

To prepare for a career in computer network and internet security, students learn to develop information security strategies, perform risk analyses, install security software, monitor network traffic and develop an emergency response plan. The program also provides background and hands-on experience in securing MS Windows, Unix/Linux, Cisco, networks, servers and clients, and the enterprise network.

Career Outlook: Employment opportunities for IT information systems security specialists are growing due to the increased need for secure internet and computer systems for organizations in industry, government and education.

Career Pathway: This program features exploratory courses that count toward a credential. Work continues to develop the program into a fully embedded Career Pathway.

Start Dates: August/January

Special Admission Requirements: One year of high school-level algebra or one semester of college algebra; Microsoft Windows or Macintosh operating system skills.
