PROGRAM SUMMARY

The State Ambassador Award is the state academic recognition program for students enrolled in postsecondary technical colleges including Milwaukee Area Technical College. Besides recognizing and rewarding students for academic excellence, professionalism and leadership qualities, the program is also intended to develop greater public awareness and appreciation of the technical college system; generate greater public respect for and a more positive image of the system; foster business, labor and community involvement in it; and stimulate greater pride in the quality and dignity of work.

The Wisconsin Technical College System Board, in cooperation with the local district boards and various corporate businesses, sponsor this annual program. The Scholastic Recognition Committee, in conjunction with the Office of Student Life, coordinates and conducts the District competition to select the MATC State Ambassador nominee.

The student chosen to represent MATC will be recognized for his/her academic achievements and selection as a State Ambassador representative along with students from the other 15 technical college districts at the Wisconsin Technical College System State Ambassador event held in Wisconsin Dells in April. Attendance to this program/training is mandatory.

The college will formally recognize and honor its State Ambassador and the other award finalists during the Honors Awards Ceremony held in May. The winner will receive a gift and certificate of appreciation for their efforts and accomplishments.
