CLOTH

Basic Sewing	This course is the foundation for other clothing courses. The principles of fit and simple construction techniques are taught. Students are introduced to pattern layout and interpretation and the operation and care of the sewing machine.
Sewing Open Lab	Students are self-paced in this course and concentrate on their own areas of interest to select projects and improve their sewing proficiency. An instructor is present to provide individual help.
Sew Easy Fashions	This course builds on techniques learned in Basic Sewing and emphasizes fitting principles and knowledge of fabrics and fashions best suited to one's figure type and needs.
Altering Ready-to-Wear	Students learn to adjust ready-to-wear garments for themselves or for others, with good fashion always in mind. Principles of fitting are stressed along with speed-sewing and pressing techniques.
Fitting Your Figure	Students learn to identify fitting problems and to adjust commercial patterns for well-fitting garments. The adjusted pattern is a guide for other garment construction.

COMART

Preparatory Art	An exploratory course in the field of art. Emphasis on an understanding of the major elements of art, the theory, and the application of pencil, wash, opaque, and ink techniques are practiced.
Figure Drawing Fundamentals	A beginning course in figure drawing. Emphasis is placed upon simple structure and the study of construction, action, and form. Various techniques are used in rendering the figure.
Beginning Oil Painting	For beginners, the student is given an appreciation of the painter's craft and taught the fundamentals of color harmony and application The completed work may be used decoratively within the home.
Beginning Watercolor & Acrylic	Students apply basic techniques in the creation of watercolor and acrylic paintings. Emphasis is given to traditional and modern styles of paint application, understanding the color palette, and the use of various wash and brush techniques.

CRAFTS

Metal Techniques	This basic course is designed to introduce the student to fundamental metalworking techniques required in the jewelry industry. Projects will be executed in copper and brass.
Jewelry Construction Techniques	This course emphasizes the fabrication of jewelry pieces using the fundamental tools and techniques of the trade. Processes such as rolling metals; drawing wire; forging; forming; and brazing metals will be covered.
Jewelry Casting	This course covers lost wax casting by the centrifugal and vacuum casting methods Wax patterns will be carved and modeled. Commercial wax models and organic materials may also be used for patterns. Proper finishing techniques will be stressed.

FOODS

Dinners for Family	Well-balanced and varied menus are planned to include holiday specials, family favorites, and glamorous party dishes. Emphasis is placed upon eye-appealing, palate-pleasing dishes. Food is prepared and served in class.
Soups/Casseroles/ Breads	Course includes a variety of soups that can be served before, after, or as a complete meal. Hearty casseroles as main or side dishes, yeast and quick breads, and desserts are also included.

RELART

Quilting

Students will learn a variety of techniques including, but not exclusively, applique, patchwork, and quilting. The entire process of making a quilt will be emphasized. The use of both hand and machine sewing will be shown and applied to various projects.

UPHOL

Furniture Upholstery

This course provides instruction for students who want to learn basic and advanced upholstery methods for chairs, auto, boat and motorcycle seats, as well as outdoor furniture and covers. Instruction is offered in spring trying, the use of support materials, padding, and applying the final cover in material, vinyl or leather. When applicable, button covering, skirt construction and applying decorative trims will be learned. It is also advisable for interior design students to also take this course. Sofas and large multi-piece projects are not permitted.

WATCH

Clock Repair

Students develop fundamental skills and understanding in disassembling, assembling, and repairing pendumlum clocks. Emphasis is placed upon pendulum theory, gear train ratios, analyzing problems, lathe use, heat treating, and tool making. Note that the course advances from pendulum clocks to alarm clocks and the like.

Watch Repair

In this advanced course, practice is offered in disassembling, assembling, repairing, cleaning, and oiling of watches. The course attempts to meet the needs of students on a trade preparatory or extension basis. The practical work is supplemented by lectures which cover the theory and construction of watches, watch adjusting, and watch regulating. This course is especially helpful to those who wish to take the state board examination in watch making.
