Together, Moving MATC Forward

Nothing gives me more pleasure than to report good news. In that regard, this edition of Communique is special.

From the top:

  • We are thrilled that our ECAM project at the Oak Creek Campus is proceeding after final approval from the WTCS. The Center for Energy Conservation and Advanced Manufacturing will join the digital arts center at Discovery World as a flagship program, setting a new standard for innovative service by two-year colleges.

  • A record number of programs participated in our spring Open House on April 1. Favorable weather contributed to a good turnout. Prospective students toured classrooms and labs, and talked directly to faculty.

  • A value of around $1 million has been placed on the gift left to us by the late Marian Drake Breskvar, the greatest benefactor in MATC history.

  • We received a $500,000 grant to continue to provide targeted services to students enrolled in the state's FoodShare program. The retention rate for this highly motivated group has been outstanding.

  • We welcome Ann Wilson to the MATC District Board as of July 1, succeeding Linda Sowell, whom we thank for all her efforts. Ms. Wilson has a long and distinguished record of public service and will be a great addition.

  • For the first time, we produced our own job fair. Close to 50 employers participated. Turnout was huge.

So, dig in to Communique. And give yourselves a round of applause for your contribution to our continuing success as the best two-year, community-based technical college in the Midwest.
