Ending on a High Note
We celebrate another successful academic year at our May 22 spring commencement. About 1,400 degree, diploma and apprenticeship students will become new alumni. The ceremony at the Bradley Center starts at 7 p.m. I hope to see you there.

Thanks to James McCaslin, president and chief operating officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company, for being our keynote speaker. Congratulations to graduation candidate Nathan Waldera of the Information Technology Systems Security Specialist associate degree program. Nathan is our student speaker.

During the next three months, many of you will enjoy some well-earned rest. We need to take time to recharge. To those of you who will be gone, a safe and restful summer.

For others, though, summer is crunch time - the time when the vast majority of new students enroll. On that front, things move into high gear:

  • Smart Step mini open houses are planned at three campuses: Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon and Oak Creek.
  • A direct-mail enrollment campaign will reach all district households.
  • A vigorous ad campaign resumes in June.
  • Student Services gears up to process an increased volume of admission applications.

Thank you for your efforts during the 2007-08 academic year. We made great progress together. I look forward to the start of summer school on June 9.
