A New Class Ready for Success We measure our success by how well we prepare our graduates for reaching their goals. Thanks to the efforts of our faculty and staff, 600 students will begin to realize their personal and professional goals when they receive their degrees and diplomas December 20 at our Winter Commencement ceremony. The event starts at 7 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Graduation always is a time to celebrate our mission. For our graduate candidates and their families, it is a milestone and life-changing event. The presence of our faculty and staff makes the ceremony even more memorable. I encourage you to attend. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Kevin P. Reilly, president of the University of Wisconsin System, as our commencement speaker. Dr. Reilly's presence reinforces the many transfer opportunities we continue to develop with UW System colleges. Our Badger Track transfer program paves a clear path to UW - Madison, the state's largest public university. We look forward to Dr. Reilly's insights. December 2007 Open House Posts Record Numbers In all ways, our Nov. 10 Open House was a breakthrough event. Holiday Greetings from MATC This year's MATC holiday greeting card demonstrates student and faculty creativity and command of technology. Woodworking Students Build Wagons for Tots Woodworking students at the Oak Creek Campus will make the holidays brighter for some lucky youngsters. Under the direction of Instructor Dan Stich, they are building 25 wooden wagons and accompanying 40-piece block sets to be donated to Toys for Tots. Continuing to Tell Our Story Influential local organizations remain keenly interested in our workforce development efforts. Black Nurses Association Honors MATC We were honored to receive a Community Partnership Award from the Milwaukee Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association. MPTV Wins Emmy Awards for "Making of Milwaukee" Awards and accolades for Milwaukee Public Television's landmark documentary "The Making of Milwaukee" continue to roll in. Generosity Shines Through at Community Thanksgiving We served almost 400 area residents at our first Community Thanksgiving, Nov. 22. Alumnus Earns Prestigious Fellowship MATC graduate William Campbell (Liberal Arts and Sciences, 2005) has done what only 20 students nationwide accomplish each year.
