    - March 2003 -

Over 250 business and community leaders, teachers, administrators, and students attended Rethink, Renew, Rewards an Urban Technology Education Symposium in Milwaukee. Participants attending the three-day symposium included representatives from 13 states; 13 Wisconsin school districts; 20 business and labor organizations; 9 colleges and universities; and 29 students from MATC and various MPS high schools. The event focused on efforts to revitalize technological education in Milwaukee. Prominent national, state, and local speakers provided insights into today's educational reform issues and thought provoking perspectives on the future. Interest sessions enhanced understandings of emerging solutions to educational concerns. Student career portfolio work was also noteworthy. The feedback received in response to this event has been overwhelmingly positive.
